    Mike Purcell has been handcarving wildlife since the 1980's when he received some expert tutoring from a nice old gentleman in the north woods of Wisconsin.  After a lifetime of working for the Wisconsin Department of Conservation, he has developed a keen eye for the natural beauty of the wildlife surrounding his part of the country.  His experiences intitially led him to carving pieces for his friends and family, and then to an instructional position with the Technical College system.

     All of Mike Purcell's wood carvings are done in natural finished woods to show off the beauty of the wood grains.  They are mounted on driftwood or log slabs to enhance their natural appearance.  Mike's goal has always been to create "a reasonably attractive piece...at a price that he could afford if he were the customer".  His modest words don't even to begin to describe the beautiful and affordable wood carvings that he designs.  These orginal pieces are now in demand across the country, and we are honored to be able to offer his beautiful crappie carvings to you to enjoy in your home!
