    Harry Bunkowfst has worked in construction for more than 30 years.  In that line of work, he's always had to invent ideas to make jobs easier for his co-workers and himself.  Harry also loves to fish, along with his wife and daughter.  He didn't like to see the women in his life losing fish or getting gilled when they were trying to measure the fish they'd caught.  When he was wading, he noticed the other fishermen were having problems trying to measure fish with a conventional ruler.  Almost every time, the results were inefficient.  Either they'd get an inaccurate measurement or the fish would slip out of their hands and back into the water.  All of these things led Harry to devise a way to easily measure a fish without hurting the fish or the fisherman.  Thus, the EZ Holdem TM was born....

     Harry first started with the idea of cutting a piece of 4 X 14 inch sewer pipe in half.  The process was working fine, but he was anxious to make it better so the fish wouldn't have to be held.  He then glued a lid to the top of it and covered one end made from plexus glass.  He left an opening in the front and back so the lips or tail could be compressed for an accurate measurement.  He also drilled two holes in the end and added nylon string and a shower curtain hook.  He finally added a measuring tape inside so the fish would lay on top of it.  Other fisherman saw him using the device and wanted to know where they could get one!

     Harry then started making them in his pole barn and found a patent attorney to help with the patent work.  Since that time, his ideas have focused on making the EZ Holdem Fish Ruler more fish, and fisherman, friendly.  The EZ Holdem TM is now manufactured out of durable plastic.  It's wider, longer and deeper than the original and an extendable measuring tape has been added for bigger and longer fish.  It can measure crappie up to 15 or 16 inches depending on the girth of the fish.  It will measure other species up to 25 inches.  The strong heavy plastic hook on the end and lanyard on the back can be hooked to your waders, belt, boat, tackle box and much more!
